For those wondering, I have a win32 build of 1.4.0 but it is on a hard disk that I can’t use now as I’m currently living on a boat. Â Which has been fun, but the only catch is the cheap power supply is 220v and the boat is 110v. Â Plus I don’t have a monitor. Â I should be leaving for Japan in a few weeks, so I can get a new power supply and monitor there as I plan on spending two months.
I haven’t forgotten or moved on, I’m just still on my big vacation thing.
Hong Kong has really been great, I’ve met some fabulous people out here.  If I could get a job here I’d move here in 5 minutes (well I’d just find an apartment as I’m already here…) The place is awesome, I’d recommend anyone to check it out.  But I don’t speak Mandarin or Canto so that won’t be happening.  🙁
I’ll try to do a small best of photos out here, but sadly the weather hasn’t been cooperating too well, and pollution has been off the chart… but really its a great place! .. !
In other news, I’m sure you’ve all read about the internet archive having a massive collection of software.?  Really good news as so much old stuff, besides the shovel ware gets disappeared.
So yes, I’m still alive, just .. been somewhat unavailable.
Good to know you’re not in a state of dead.
Me and Tux been archiving whatever we find on his server, which you can access!
How’s the internet there?
On a boat I have to tether through a cellphone. It isn’t too bad, but it drops from time to time as they don’t want prepaid people like me using it as a fixed connection. Also they drop long term tcp connections so things like telnet, ssh and irc are almost unusable for anything longer than 10 minutes. Maybe it is some DDoS protection thing here? Maybe their NAT is overflooding. I don’t know.
It is kind of different being on a boat, as you have to make shore visits count! .. nothing worse than trying to cook, and forgetting a key ingredient!
The rains are about to head here so I have to close the hatches and stuff. lol it is funny even writing that, but there is a mountain between me & victoria harbour, and it was surreal watching the rain clouds come over it, then come down and start to cover the buildings…
welcome back! you were sorely missed.
> But I don’t speak Mandarin or Canto so that won’t be happening.
No if you have teaching permit. 🙂
If I only stayed in school. I just have some college, and highschool.. so yeah.. I’m basically at a dead end.
I’m just curious. Why people buy fish heads ?!
Wait I’ve thought HK was English speaking. Did it change after return to commies?
Also – did you try fish heads yourself?
> Wait I’ve thought HK was English speaking. Did it change after return to commies?
Cantonese is main language.
From what I can tell they took it out of the public schools, so now only the rich kids at private schools get English. I could be wrong, I’ll have to ask, I kind of forget…
And fish heads??? ugh. no. no no no no nono…
Norwegians love rotten fish heads!
Looks like Nathan Lineback of toastytech uploaded a bunch of stuff to WinWorld – in particular, Office 4.2 for NT!
