The part that is interesting to me is the old OEM test directory, specifically the stress test, and the MS-DOS apps/games!
That’s right it’s Flight Simulator 4! .. Although it was more fun downloading it directly from Microsoft back in the day. That said you may find this one, from archive.org more interesting as it’s got a patched exe giving et4000 support!
Naturally you need to configure dosbox, or pcem to use an ET4000 compatible adapter to play this, but the driver does support 800×600 gameplay!
Yes, everyone is going nuts about the new Microsoft Flight Simulator, but I still have X and have barely touched it.
I should be all over this, but I’m not.
Going back to the FTP site, you’ll find various test builds of Excel & Word for Win16, Win32, and Windows 95! This could be the thing you need if you have to work with old documents and don’t want to go through the conversion fun. It’s a treasure trove of testing apps for mucking around on a typhoon kind of day.
Hi
I think that HPE removed Gnome desktop from their website because I can’t find it.
Is there any other way to download Gnome Desktop for HP-UX?
Do you know if it could be installed on HP-UX 11i v3 (Itanium)?
Grzegorz Budny
My HP-UX machine is half-dead so I can’t test much, and it’s not an Itanium anyway, but from a quick search I guess you could try downloading it from http://hpux.connect.org.uk/ ?
In particular http://hpux.connect.org.uk/hppd/hpux/Gnome/
http://ftpmirror.your.org/pub/misc/ftp.microsoft.com/ looks like it might just be an unzipped copy of https://archive.org/details/ftp.microsoft.com, it’s dated after it and they have exactly the same contents in Softlib/MSLFILES. It’s only 66GB to download the whole thing 🙂
That was mirrored after 2002 unfortunately.
They got rid of all the stuff before 2002.
For instance you can’t find BusSys downloads. All gone.
Checking archive.org for their http://ftp.microsoft.com mirror.
Hi Steve, can you clarify which things you’re looking for?
