Hi neozeed.

I just love to read about historic software and having them still be able to run within actual os. Many thanks for your blog and tinkering with such old gems.
I have put uae-0.1 on github and would like to also include your win32-sdl quick hack as well - if this is ok with you?

best regards, Peter

Did you download https://master.dl.sourceforge.net/project/uae-archive/binaries/uae-0.1-mingw.7z?viasf=1

remember to type in 'f' in the console (and enter of course!) otherwise it just sits there.

Yes, the c++ seems like it was more about Bernd Schmidt's mindset of just getting something down that would work. And back then OO was all the rage that was going to cure all of codes ills. But even back then it was apparent that many platforms were either lacking a C++ compiler, or it wasn't that good so the shift into C was inevitable. Also it was kind of funny that super early versions explicitly stated that they didn't want any version to run on MS-DOS or Windows. The pain of the Amiga being pushed aside for the PC was still raw back then.

As far as to what Bernd Schmidt is up to these days I really don't know. Once UAE started to stagnate and fragment after he seems to have disappeared. I really don't know what happened, maybe he was just done with the whole scene.

The code for 0.1 is much simpler to read than modern versions, It was also surprising to see C++ in use, have always thought of UAE as a 'C' project :)

21 Years on, have to wonder what Bernd is upto now...
