Is it possible to run GDB "against" qemu / moonbuggy ?

If so, what is the "target file name" to give to GDB ?

I've tried to use gdb ./s390-bb.kernel

but get :

s390-moon-buggy/s390-bb.kernel": not in executable format: file format not recognized

Before starting gdb I entered : (in another terminal)
exec qemu-system-s390x -M s390-ccw-virtio-2.10 -nographic \
                       -kernel s390-bb.kernel \
