The floppies are marked with Boot, System and Unlimited user upgrade. Any use to anyone??? To use the tape I believe the drive needs to be set up to a specific address.

Try to turn off acpi. If you use VirtualBox, try “vboxmanage modifyvm {vm-id} –acpi”.

I suspect it’s like Mach 2.5 where the build was gcc 1.x without synthetic 64bit integers.

Still having a bit of a struggle with the SCSI HBA throwing errors during startup.

Hint: Make sure your ISA bus isn’t fast-clocked when using a 3c503.

While I’m not sure if it would like booting from a large drive, it certainly copes with a 20GB IDE drive, noting that maximum filesystem size is 2GB.

That’s correct. I saw the card referenced in ESR’s last “PC clone Unix Software buyers guide” as supported by other SVR4 ports so I gave it a shot and it works. ESR says he was using Dell Unix himself but didn’t cover hardware compatibility of it in that FAQ. By 1994 must have been out of style.
